You should know the difference between lining tattoo needles and shading tattoo needles. When loading the shading needle onto the shader gun, always use sterilized needles. Shading needles are usually bound together in up to 15 numbers, which can cover a bigger area of the body. When setting the needles, take care to adjust the length of needle. The length of the needle depends on what kind of shading work you will do. Usually dark shading needs longer needle, while light shading needs shorter needle.

When doing the shading work, you will need pure water and shading ink. Some artists do the watering work after ink, while some may use a switch hazel or a wash. No matter which way you use, the purpose is to make the ink thinner can therefore give it a fading effect. You should also lubricate the skin before you do the shading work, in order to help the needles go more smoothly and help you to control the shading. Do not push the tattoo gun heavily when doing the shading work. On the contrary, you should keep an angle when holding the gun.
