White inks are used for highlighting the bright part of the tattoo, such as stars and eyes. The white color can create a mimic effect of the shining objects. The black and white inks are also used to darken or lighten blended tattoo inks. Black inks, mixed with pure water, can make different levels of grey color, which is largely used for shading works. White inks can be mixed into different light colors to create different subtle levels of the basic light color, such as light reds and light blues.
There are six basic colors: red, blue, yellow, purple, green and orange. Most bright tattoo inks can be created by mixing of these basic colors. Experienced tattoo artist usually prefer to make particular colors by themselves with these basic colors. If you are a good tattoo artist, you can make uncountable tattoo inks with these six colors.
